The LOCALITY
The Annexe is located in quiet Cambridgeshire village of Shudy Camps. South East of Cambridge City (12miles) Saffron Walden (7miles) Duxford (5miles) (Stansted Airport 30 min).
We are situated off the 1307 towards Harwich and not far from the M11 but close to the Icknield Way at Linton. Set in an area of historical significance, the Camps are part of the early settlements that grew from the saffron trade and also by being recuperation and camping areas for the armies and latterly airmen for many wars between the 12th Century and World war 2.
We are where Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Essex touch in a small village, which has no shop or pub, just a church.
We are close to many good painting, walking, cycling and exploring areas such as such as Saffron Walden and slightly father afield to Cambridge, Lavenham, Stansted Mountfitchet, Bury st Edmunds, Thaxted, Long Melford and Finchingfield. This mentions a very small number of mainly unspoilt villages in a less travelled part of the UK that are nearby. Unless arriving by bicycle or motorbike a car is vital as bus services/links are rare and not user friendly.
We can offer peace and quiet disrupted by the occasional owl, fox or deer shout.
We can offer solitude without isolation in combination with good modern facilities.
We are also close to several significant event centres such as the Imperial war museum at Duxford, Audley End and Newmarket. We can arrange personal transport to and from the various exhibitions, rallies, displays, shows, concerts and events.
We can offer secure storage for cyclists.
Horse riding facilities are available a short walk away.
We can offer beginner iT courses for those with a laptop computer.
We welcome and have facilities for toddlers and pets that can be controlled.
We are also able to converse in German, Swedish, Danish plus a smaller range in Spanish and French
Harwich and Felixstowe are an easy run for those wishing to break up their journey to and from the continent.
The room is available for most days throughout the year with no change in rates. We request that smokers do so outside.
